EBAY INTEGRATION REVIEW
A buyer-first product decision experience.
This page summarizes VisionSpoke’s current review environment and proposed use of authorized eBay product data.

Business purpose
VisionSpoke helps shoppers turn a natural-language buying need into a short, understandable product decision. It asks product-specific questions, evaluates available listing evidence and presents a lower-cost SAVE option, a strongest-fit PICK and an UPGRADE whose additional cost must be justified.
Current application status
The application is fully functional with clearly labeled VisionSpoke test products and has been tested against eBay Sandbox listings. The public review build keeps live eBay inventory, production credentials and affiliate tracking disabled.
Requested eBay capability
VisionSpoke intends to use the Buy Browse API to search public eBay inventory and retrieve item details needed for comparison, including title, category, product aspects, condition, image, price, availability, seller information, shipping and returns when provided by the API. Checkout remains on eBay; VisionSpoke does not request the Order API in this phase.
Data flow
A shopper selects eBay as the retailer, then enters a product need and answers relevant fit questions. VisionSpoke sends a product search—not the shopper’s identity—to the authorized eBay API. Returned listing facts are screened for product relevance, compared with the shopper’s stated needs and displayed with clear source and confidence labels. The shopper may then choose an explicitly labeled link that opens the listing on eBay.
Retailer separation
Each request is bound to one retailer, and listing offers from other sources are rejected. Walmart appears only as a separately labeled application preview using VisionSpoke test data. eBay listings are never combined with Walmart listings or VisionSpoke test products in one result set.
Recommendation method
The current system is deterministic and does not send eBay data to a generative-AI provider. Category-specific rules identify essential specifications, exclude obvious accessories, score supported product fit and reduce confidence when important evidence is missing. Compensation is not used as a ranking input.
Privacy and storage
VisionSpoke does not currently create shopper accounts, request eBay account access, retain purchase history or intentionally store shopping requests in a customer database. API credentials remain server-side. Public listing data is used only to support the current product decision and will be handled according to eBay’s API terms and applicable data requirements.
Affiliate safeguards
Affiliate tracking is disabled in the public review build. The application has separate preview, Sandbox and production controls; preview and Sandbox modes reject tracked destinations. If affiliate links are approved and activated, a clear compensation statement will appear beside each eligible link.
Preliminary API-volume estimate
These planning estimates will be validated before submission: up to 50 Browse search calls per peak hour and 500 per day; up to 150 item-detail calls per peak hour and 1,500 per day. VisionSpoke will use bounded result sets, caching where permitted, input validation and graceful fallback behavior to avoid unnecessary requests.
